We Believe in Honoring Civil Authority

At Mountain Valley Chapel in Gold Bar, Washington, we believe that civil government is ordained by God to promote order, justice, and peace. Scripture teaches that we are to respect and pray for those in positions of authority, whether we agree with them or not. Honoring civil authority is part of honoring God, because all true authority ultimately comes from Him. When believers model humility, respect, and integrity toward leadership, we reflect the heart of Christ in a divided world.
We understand that the Bible calls us to live as good citizens obeying laws, paying taxes, and seeking the welfare of the communities where God has placed us. However, when earthly authority directly conflicts with God’s Word, our first allegiance is always to Him. We follow the example of the apostles, who said, “We must obey God rather than men.” True honor does not mean blind obedience; it means living with grace and conviction, even in difficult times.
At Mountain Valley Chapel, we teach that believers should pray regularly for local, state, and national leaders, asking God to guide them with wisdom and righteousness. We believe that when the Church intercedes for its leaders, communities become stronger, justice prevails, and hearts are softened toward truth.
If you are looking for a church near Gold Bar, Sultan, or Index that teaches biblical truth with balance, conviction, and respect, we invite you to join us. Together, we can live as faithful citizens of both heaven and earth, honoring God in every area of life.
“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” — Romans 13:1 (ESV)
