5 Ways We’re Serving Gold Bar & Sky Valley Through Rescued Foods

At Mountain Valley Chapel in Gold Bar, Washington, we believe the church should do more than meet on Sundays; it should meet the needs of the community every day. That’s why our Rescued Foods ministry has become one of the most meaningful ways we serve the people of Gold Bar, Sultan, Index, and the greater Sky Valley. Rescued Foods isn’t just a program; it’s a reflection of the heart of Jesus feeding the hungry, loving our neighbors, and reminding every person that they matter to God.

Here are five ways this ministry is making a difference in our community:

1. Providing Free Groceries and Meals to Local Families Twice a month, Mountain Valley Chapel opens its doors for a free hot meal and grocery distribution. Anyone is welcome, no sign-ups, no questions asked. Families, seniors, and individuals can come enjoy a meal together and take home fresh food, produce, and pantry items. It’s our way of saying, “You are not forgotten.”

2. Partnering with Local Stores and Food Programs The name Rescued Foods comes from our commitment to “rescue” quality food that might otherwise go to waste. By partnering with local stores and community organizations, we can take surplus items and put them directly into the hands of those who need them most. Together, we’re reducing waste and feeding more families across Sky Valley.

3. Creating a Place of Dignity and Friendship Rescued Foods is about more than handing out groceries; it's about connection. When people come through our doors, they’re greeted with kindness, not judgment. We sit, share a meal, laugh together, and pray with those who ask. It’s a place where relationships grow and hope is restored.
