Why We Do Community Meals: The Gospel at the Table

At Mountain Valley Chapel in Gold Bar, Washington, we believe some of the most powerful ministry happens around a table. Sharing a meal is one of the simplest, yet most meaningful ways to reflect the heart of Jesus. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus often met people over food tax collectors, fishermen, sinners, and saints alike. At the table, barriers came down, hearts opened up, and the gospel came to life. That’s why our Rescued Foods community meals are more than an outreach program; they're a living expression of the love and hospitality of Christ.

When we gather for community meals, we’re not just feeding bodies; we’re feeding souls. A warm plate of food and a kind conversation can do more than we realize. For some, it’s the first genuine smile they’ve seen all week. For others, it’s a reminder that they’re not alone. Every meal served and every grocery bag shared says, “You matter to God.” We believe the gospel is not just meant to be preached, it's meant to be demonstrated.

Our community meals also remind us that everyone has something to give. Volunteers serve faithfully, local stores donate food, and families come together to make sure no one in the Sky Valley goes hungry. The miracle happens when people from all backgrounds gather, share, and care for one another. It’s a glimpse of the Kingdom of God on earth, simple, beautiful, and powerful.

At Mountain Valley Chapel, the table is where ministry becomes personal. It’s where we listen, pray, and share the hope of Jesus in a way that feels real. We’ve seen hearts soften and lives change through these moments of connection. God uses meals not just to fill stomachs, but to fill hearts with His grace.
