We live in a world that tells us to “follow your heart,” but if we’re honest, our hearts can be inconsistent. One moment we’re confident, the next we’re anxious. One day we’re full of faith, the next we’re full of fear. At Mountain Valley Chapel in Gold Bar, Washington, we believe emotions are real but they’re not meant to rule our lives. Faith must lead, and feelings must follow. Living by truth means trusting what God says even when it doesn’t match what we feel.

The Bible reminds us that “the heart is deceitful above all things.” That doesn’t mean emotions are bad; it means they’re unreliable as a foundation for truth. Feelings fluctuate, but God’s Word never changes. When we let truth shape our emotions rather than letting emotions shape our truth, peace begins to take root. Faith isn’t denial, it's discipline. It’s choosing to believe God’s promises when your circumstances tell you something different.

At Mountain Valley Chapel, we often remind our church family that faith isn’t about pretending everything’s fine. It’s about holding on to God’s truth when nothing feels fine. Whether it’s fear, anger, discouragement, or doubt, emotions lose their power when confronted by the Word of God. That’s why we stay rooted in Scripture; it anchors our hearts when storms hit. Worship, prayer, and fellowship help align our emotions with eternal truth rather than temporary feelings.

When emotions run high, we have a choice: be led by what we feel, or stand on what we know. Faith says, “God is still good.” Faith says, “I will trust Him even here.” Faith says, “My feelings are valid, but they’re not my guide.” The Holy Spirit helps us navigate those moments with wisdom and grace, teaching us how to walk by faith and not by sight.

If your emotions have been running your life, God invites you back to solid ground His truth. At Mountain Valley Chapel, we’re walking that same road together, learning every day how to build a faith that stands firm even when feelings shift.

If you’re looking for a Bible-centered church near Gold Bar, Sultan, or Index where you can grow in faith, find community, and learn to live by truth, we invite you to join us this Sunday.
